MUST HAVE BASIC ITEMS

Summer fashion is here! To help you through those cool summer days and hot summer nights, we’ve got the perfect blend of cool and style

Here is a list on 5 Basic Tips you might need to survive the summer sun.

  1. HYDRATE

Obviously! When temperatures are high, our bodies excrete a lot of water and we need to replenish on the double. For those of us who can afford to, please hydrate. ‘This is the season for cool, refreshing drinks 🙂 and the best time to practice the minimum two litres of water a day thing. Trust me on this. Bottoms up!

2. DRESS FOR THE WEATHER

Keep it light, airy and free. I love cotton and linens because they allow the skin to breathe and are very absorbent. Sundresses and shorts and my favorites.

And this goes for feet too! Open shoes are best. Aerate those bad boys. Besides, if your feet are getting swollen near closed shoes right now, you have no choice.

Don’t forget to hat up and put your sunglasses on to protect your face and eyes. Every bit helps.

Also, always take any time when going out – let the wind blow across your skin while taking photos or videos! Just be sure that these days we all want to do things without thinking about how tired we might become from walking by ourselves 😉

3. SUNSCREEN

As previously said, this sun is no joke, so take it very seriously. With highs of about 32 degrees, the skin is in deep trouble. I find my skin drying up fast. I’m talking flaky, ashy levels of dryness here.

Moisturizing is essential but it has to be a high SPF sunscreen to be efficient. So get some coverage and thank me later when you’re not peeling and sun-damaged 🙂

P.S. The lips are very sensitive to heat and sun so a good lip balm with SPF will not only keep them from chapping and cracking but make sure there's no discoloration.

On a scale of 1 to 10, there's nothing better than having your face covered all day long!

4. STAY FRESH

Heat = dust and sweat and dirt build-up. You don’t wanna be carrying that around all day. Yuck! Keeping fresh is a must because you don’t want to be stinky or sticky.

Shower/bath often to keep clean and cool. I love the fresh and organic selection of handcrafted soaps at Delicate Secrets. The perfect excuse to splurge a little on fun soaps and spend more time in the bathroom.

Use deodorant after showers. If you get sweaty quickly do not just put on some perfume. No! Use wet wipes or wash up then reapply deodorant. Keep your fragrances fresh and light. And always have some handy.

5. EAT LIGHT

There’s nothing as uncomfortable as a heavy meal in the heat. Light and fresh meals make a world of difference in comfort, mobility and overall energy.

I’m no nutritionist, I’m just speaking from experience. I’ve been eating a lot of salads, sushi and ceviche and fruits lately and it helps. Maybe all the raw fish makes me feel like I’m by the ocean . . . wishful thinking.

Eat right, eat light and save room for some ice cream because, that’s what hot days are for.

Fashion is more than what you wear. It’s an expression of personal taste, cultural norms, and social history.
